New Pattern: Frisco for the kids!

Yes, another new pattern this week. It’s been a fast and furious new year around here with pattern releases. It seems like I blog about nothing else as of late. None of these new patterns have been child specific until today! I bring you, Frisco.

Frisco1-1

I have always had a thing for reverse stockinette stripes. I just love the way the fabric creates a unique texture on the “wrong” side. So, I decided to make the “wrong” side the “right” side this time.

Frisco5-1

The name Frisco is a bit of a homage to my daughter’s favorite baseball team (and current World Series Champtions). I hadn’t set out to do this in San Fransisco Giants colors, they just happened to be the colors that I had on hand. I also started this project during the playoffs (not that I really planned it that way, I wasn’t watching).

Frisco4-1

The cardigan is sized from 6 months, through size 10, so it offers a very wide range of sizes. It is also worked up in worsted weight, so it is a relatively “quick” project. To sweeten the release, I have decided to offer it at 20% through Thursday with the code “Frisco15” at checkout on Ravelry. European customers, this should be available on Ravelry through Loveknitting within 24 hours, so keep checking!

There are a couple other parts to this post besides just talking about my new pattern. Next, I’d like to address European sales. I do a fair bit of sales with the EU and the whole VAT MOSS thing has really shaken things up a bit around here. I had to make a decision what to do. Do I not sell to the EU, do I collect the taxes myself and pay them (which is really really complicated), do I use a 3rd party seller…It was a tough decision, but I decided to go with the Ravelry option of selling them through Loveknitting. Now, basically, if you are in the EU and you find me on Ravelry, you will go to purchase a pattern and be directed to the Loveknitting site to complete the sale. Most of my patterns are available there right now. New patterns can take up to 24 hours to be uploaded.

Next, I hope you will keep checking back in. I am hoping to actually incorporate more of “me” into my blog posts, not just the designs I am working on. I hope you will enjoy!

Fall is coming…

In some parts of the country, it may not seem like it, but fall is coming. Thank goodness. I love fall. I love every single bit about it. I love pumpkin, sweaters, the return to knits, the crisp air, the spooky evenings…Well, ok I don’t like that it leads into winter. If it could just stay fall all the time, I’d  be totally happy.

I’ve spent the past week sending kids off to school and then having most of the come down with some strange cold-like illness the past week.

I am enjoying a bit of a return to knitting myself. I, sort of, took the summer off. I mean, I still designed a few things, but my knitting time was drastically reduced. I chose, instead, to spend time doing things with my kids and just dealing with their day to day ruckus. I hope you don’t all feel abandoned!

Ha…well, I am back at it, full force. Right now I am working on a secret project I can’t talk about. It is soo fun. I can’t wait to show you. I am also working on some upsizing of my children’s pattern. I plan on doing a whole series of them. First up, is the Lady Abernathy, which is the upsized version of  The Abernathy Sweater

abernathy3

The Abernathy is arguably one of my best selling patterns. So, I can’t wait to finish it! Almost done with the body. The sleeves should fly! It is also being knit in DK gauge in Wollmeise DK and I am just loving it. When I start the second upsized sweater, I will let you see that one, too!

I also, can’t seem to quit working with chevrons. Currently, I am working on some FUN colorwork charts for some warm wooly bright colorwork hats.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this update. I am thinking of starting a Photo Friday of some sort. We will see what I come up with.

New Pattern, Summer and KALS!

Yes, it has been over a month since I last blogged. If you think I’ve spent all this time relaxing, going to the beach, and spending time with my family, then you would be partially right. I’ve not done a lot of relaxing, but I have spent a bit of time at the beach and with family. It has been fun, but I am starting to buckle down and get ready for fall. Always need to be a season ahead! It is sort of difficult sometimes to plan cozy fall and winter items when it’s 90+ degrees outside, but I’m working on it!

In the meantime, I have something for you. Well, sort of. I am putting it up for pre-sale today. I have released A Little Flouro.

flouroshawl1-2

You will receive an info sheet when you purchase and on August 1st, I will upload the full pattern. Just for fun, I decided to do a KAL in my group, for this pattern. To go along with the KAL, I also decided to give you a 50% discount from now until August 1st. If that’s not enough, I also decided to include all of my shawls, scarves, and cowls in the KAL. You can get those for 30% off with the code SHAWLS from my Ravelry shop.

mamashawl

A Little Flouro is knit with Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light and Madelinetosh Tosh Mo Light. Both are wonderful yarns for shawls. Though, there are a very wide variety of yarns that would work for this pattern.

If shawls, scarves and cowls aren’t your thing, perhaps you want to check out a kid knit this month? Well, in August, the Knitting For Boys group on Ravelry is also having a KAL of my kid’s patterns. So, for this KAL, I offered up a code for 25% off my kid’s patterns. You don’t have to be a member of the group or even do the KAL to be able to use the code though. The code is KIDSKNITSRFUN and it is good for use on any of my kid patterns (or multiples). I do encourage to you follow the link above to the group. They are a fabulous resource for kids patterns, are a very helpful group and they have a KAL every single month. So, if you like KALs, definitely check them out.

Farewell to Frost, Maybe?

Spring has been a long time coming. No really, up here, in North Dakota, it’s taking it’s sweet time. I can’t remember which day I actually last saw the sunshine. Yesterday, our temp said we made it out of the 40’s, but I’m pretty sure it was lying. The first signal that Spring has arrived is generally that my allergies reappear. Sigh…Spring is a busy time, too. This year, it is especially busy. What has been keeping me busy lately. First of all, I have a graduate this year. You’ve seen her before, she sometimes does some modeling for me.

Libbypark3-smaller2

So, with her growing up and heading off to school in the fall, I decided that I need to find another model. Well, I haven’t found anyone, yet. So, in the meantime. I’ve taken up modeling things myself, which is a whole different challenge considering that I am also the photographer. I learned with this latest pattern, that it is really hard to take pictures of yourself, highlighting the knitwear while also presenting a flattering picture of one’s self. I may need to train my 5 year old to run the camera (just kidding!!!).

Second, and this may seem funny to some, but playoff hockey is also keeping me very busy. No, don’t laugh…ok laugh if you want. I love hockey and while one of my favorite teams did not even come close to making the playoffs. In fact, they have the second pick in the draft(cough…Buffalo…cough), my other team is keeping me on the edge of my seat. GO KINGS GO!

So, yes, another thing keeping me busy: designing. I have several works in progress, one of them, this new lightweight cowl, Farewell to Frost.

cowl3

Farewell to Frost is a tubular cow, meaning it is knit it a tube and then joined with grafting at the end of the knitting. It is knit up in the very lovely Sunshine Yarns BFL Silk lace. I’ve been wearing it a lot. It comes in very handy when you just need a little something to keep the chill away (even AC chill).

cowl4The cowl pattern is open to modification. You could knit it at a different gauge, maybe try fingering weight. You could add length, or subtract it and the stitch pattern is easy to expand for a wider cowl if one wanted. Texture is provided by lace and variations between garter and stockinette. It is wonderfully soft and lightweight.

cowl2-1_medium2

From now through Wednesday, the 15th you can get the pattern at it’s introductory price of 30% off with the coupon code BYEBYEFROST  at checkout. Just add, Farewell to Frost to your cart and use the coupon code in the appropriate area. Thanks so much for stopping by and hope to see you around soon.

Holiday Sales and other stuff

This has been a long time coming. This post, that is. It seems like when I get sick or busy, my blog suffers the most. Well, it was the sick this time. It tore through our house like you don’t even know. I am still dealing with it now. I have been just exhausted. This girl does not like to take naps or go to bed early (or sleep all day), but I’ve been doing just that. I even fell asleep during my beloved Kings’ games. No, seriously…snored right through a couple of them.

Enough of that. I hope to get back into posting on here again (I know, I say that EVERY TIME) with Monday knitshaming posts at the very least. I am trying to catch up on my backlog of self published stuff that I want to get out to you! There are some really fun things coming! Including plans for another KAL very soon!

Oh, yes…I did mention a Holiday Sale. I feel like having a sale. Call me festive or …I don’t know.  I like to get my stuff out there, so pass on the word. This will be the last one of the year on all my  patterns. It is a Buy One Get One sale. You just put two patterns in your Ravelry cart fr0m my Ninja8tofu Designs store, enter the code HOLIDAYBOGO and you will get one for free (ravelry automatically gives you the lowest priced one as the free one). This sale will run from now through the end of the day (CST) Cyber Monday (December 2nd). Now, I’m not the only one spreading the love with a sale, Marly (MarlyBird on Ravelry) is compiling a list of sales that are going on in the knitting world over this holiday season. Definitely check that out, too!

Spare Time KAL!

Phew! Ok, today is the day. I am announcing the KAL officially so that you may get ready! First of all, it is a Sweater KAL for both adults and kids. I am really excited to share this news with you!

Introducing, to go along with Spare Time Pullover, I present, Little Spare Time. I hope you all like it!

kneelingsparetimesmaller2

This pattern is a little different than the adult Spare Time Pullover. The children’s is top down and knit in a lighter gauge with a little bit less positive ease.

littlesparefrontsmallLike the Adult sweater, there are optional pockets in the side seams. Also, like the adult version, the kids is edged in garter stitch. Simple, but lovely stitches! The yarn used is The Verdant Gryphon Traveller. While it’s not required for the KAL that you use the same yarn, I highly recommend this yarn. I love it. You might remember that I used this base in my Knitty pattern Kindling.

The Little Spare Time KAL pattern is only a presale right now. The adult version is ready to go, though.

Use code SPARETIME1 for 30% off through the end of August. Sept 1st-16th, use Code SPARETIME2, for 25% off and from the 17th through the 30th of September use code SPARETIME3 for 20% off. These codes are also good for the adult Spare Time Pullover. Regular price for both of these patterns is $5.50

When you purchase, you will receive an info page to download. It will allow you to get your yarn and needles ready for our September 16th start date. The pattern file will go out in an update to buyers either the 15th or 16th of September. The KAL will run through the end of October. So, there should be plenty of time to finish! There will be some prizes, but I haven’t gotten them all lined up yet. You can stop by my group, Ninja8tofu’s Tofu Shack, for discussion having to do with the KAL. I will also update my facebook page, Ninja8tofu Designs, often during the KAL. Remember also, that you may choose to knit the adult version, Spare Time Pullover, as well. I hope you all will stop by and have a great time with us!

Back at the Blog and a KAL is coming.

Phew! It has been a LONG time since I have posted on here. I do have a reason.  I had a rather long and drawn out ordeal with losing access to my blog. Then, suddenly, I got it back. That’s the quick version of the story. I was also really busy with summer, the kids, and working on new things that again the blog and my lost access didn’t get taken care of as quickly as it normally would. But, it’s ok! I am back and hopefully that won’t happen again!

In the mean time, I published this little cutie.

shrug1bright_medium2It’s called Curve and it is knit up in Malabrigo Mecha. I am in absolute LOVE with Mecha. It seems a lot like Rasta to me, except that it is thinner and superwash. The colors are just gorgeous! I got the idea for this little shrug and HAD to do it in Mecha. It knits up so quick! This makes a great gift knit.

shrug2bright2_medium2I hope you like this little shrug. The pattern is available here in my Ravelry shop.

Thanks for stopping back into my blog! I do apologize for my absence. It was really quite a silly situation. Keep checking back, next week I will have some news about a KAL that will start around mid-September. I am REALLY excited for it. The KAL will be as inclusive as it can be with a pattern for the adults (already released) and a new pattern for the little ones based on the adult pattern.  I am so excited to show it to you. Also, check out my Facebook link at the top of the page. I post  every few days on there and will be showing some sneak peeks on there!

Thanks again, for stopping by.
