I am happy to bring you my latest pattern: Cadenza. This is a scarf/shawlette done in Malabrigo Silky Merino. I used colorways Smoke and Manzanilla Olive. I absolutely LOVED working on these. They knit up very easily and literally flow off the needles thanks to the fantastic yarn. I absolutely adore Malabrigo Silky Merino. I adore it so much that I chose it as the yarn for my adult sized Little Momo (which is currently in progress!). Cadenza is knit top down and shaped with short rows. The smaller size is very scarf like and the large size is a bit more shawlette like. The dots of color are worked much the same way bobbles are, back and forth, in contrasting color. In addition to coming in two sizes. It also offers, 3 edging options. There is a lot of room for customization. You could add more of the dotted repeats, if you like. Or make it bigger with more short rows. Or, if you are really adventurous, knit it in worsted!
For whatever reason, my toddler has decided to change his wake up time from 6 am, to 5 am. To say the least, this has been BRUTAL on me. Why does that one hour make such a difference. I feel like I spend the first 3 hours of my day in some sort of mental fog. I must retrain him for 6 am. I am by no means a “morning person” the way it is! I am a night owl. Night owl + early wake up= bad!!!!
Oh well! So, what’s up on the design front? Oooh lots of exciting things. I basically took December off. I had too much to do. Seriously, December was not kind. It wasn’t until around Christmas eve when I was so overcome by an idea that I had to get it down to at least putting it on paper. I sat down and sketched at least 30 things. It’s like my mind just opened up. Christmas stress was over and ta-da! I cast on for what would become Cadenza (the un-named scarf and shawlette that I posted last time). I finished that and immediately cast one for a second version. I am excited for these. I have been wearing the scarf pretty much constantly since we finished the photo shoot. It is really pretty, warm, and so luxuriously soft. I just adore Malabrigo Silky Merino. I adore it so much that I chose it for the upsized version of the Little Momo. Yes, I think I mentioned that. Maybe not. I will be upsizing the Little Momo to adult sizes. I am working up the protoype now and it’s going very well. The Silky is a dream to work with and I can’t wait to share this with you!
Until then, I thought I’d share a couple of pictures of the Cadenza from the photo shoot.
I think I have recovered. It may have taken me two weeks. But, by golly, I did it. Now, I am ready to move onto my New Year’s resolutions. I have started one already. The weight loss has begun. I have set a goal for myself and I think it’s reachable if I stick to my guns. I have to stick to my guns. I have set a goal of losing 60 pounds by next New Year’s Day. By just not eating junk, watching portion size, I have already shed 7 pounds! Yay! I am very excited.
My blogging goal this year will be to post at least once a week or more. I have a new pattern with testers.
There’s a sneak peak. The top one is a scarf and the second is more shawl-like. They are knit up in Malabrigo Silky Merino and there will be three edging options. I am very excited. I am doing some swatching tonight and getting ready to work on upsizing the Little Momo for adults! I have been sketching like mad too and I have many new ideas. I only hope I get to half of them this year!
