Knitting In the New Year!

2012 was a busy year! Whew! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. 2013 looks to be just as busy, if not, busier! I’m going to be doing some fun things over the next few months and I can’t wait to show them to you. But, for now I have some general goals that I would like to accomplish.

  1. Getting my facebook page and or new blog/website up and running.
  2. Host 2 KALs at least. I love doing KALS, they are so fun for me. It is always a blast to see what you guys knit up!
  3. Knit myself a sweater. I have knit myself sweaters in the past. When I started designing them, though, I decided to do them in my daughter’s size. She’s smaller and they are faster. I want at least one of my sweaters this year to be in my size, design or not.

That is pretty much all for now. Did you know that I originally started knitting 10 years ago because of a New Years Resolution? It’s true, I totally did!

What are some of the things you hope to accomplish that are knitting related in the new year? Post in my group thread and you can win a skein of yarn. I’ll draw for the winner Friday, January 7th at noon (CST).

A Baby Knitting Giveaway!

Have you seen the new 60 More Quick Baby Knits? Well, if not, follow that link that I just posted and check it out! I have a design in it called the Garter Ridge Hat.  All of the designs in the book are knit up in Cascade 220 sport.

I have, in my possession a copy of this book which I am planning  on giving away. All you have to do is leave a comment in the comment section about what you like about knitting for babies. Now, to let you know, the majority of the patterns run from 6 months to 18 months. There are a couple larger.  There are some really cute designs! I will pick a winner next Wednesday, May 30th. Plenty of time for entries!

Also, lately I’ve been trying to revive my Ravelry group a bit. Sometime later this summer (maybe July or August), I’d like to do a KAL.  Last year, we did a kid’s knit KAL. This year, I think it will likely be an “accessory” KAL.  Any suggestions? So, please stop by my Ravelry group and say hi. I have a chat thread(and a couple others!!) and a welcome thread. Say hi, hang out. I mostly chat to myself right now and let’s face it, that’s just sad.

New Patterns and a Gift Card Giveaway!

Hey there guys! I’ve got some releases and a giveaway. First off, I have TWO new patterns today! Both are for babies/toddlers and both are knit up in Shine Sport yarn from Knit Picks.

First is the Garter Stripe Polo:

This is knit top down, in the round. The sizes available are 6months [12 months, 18 months, 2T, 4T]. I really like it. It’s a quick knit that looks fantastic with many different color combos!

Secondly, there’s Miss Abbey. This is also knit from the top down and joined in the round after the keyhole neck feature.

The garter bands on the sleeves and hem provide a simple adornment that looks very cute!

Knit up in a snuggly cotton blend, these two are great summertime knits.

Now for the giveaway. Well, this comes about because I completely forgot to submit ads on Ravelry for June. So, I have no ads for this month to spread the pattern love. Big fail on my part. My excuse is that in my insanity that was May, I just completely forgot about ads! So, in order to “spread the love”, I want to do a Knit Picks gift card giveaway. Basically, I will give you a $10 gift card to Knit Picks if you A) post a comment letting me know what you think of the patterns B) let me know your ravelry ID and C) favorite or queue one of these new patterns.  I need to know your rav ID so that I can check if you either loved or queued a pattern. I figure this is my attempt at advertising for the month! I will randomly [random.org]choose a commenter, check ravelry and then send you a gift card! You will have until June 15th and 1:00pm to enter this giveaway.

Malabrigo March Giveaway #2! and What’s Up?

Malabrigo March has kicked off and is off and running in the Malabrigo Junkies forum on Ravelry.  If you haven’t yet, you should check it out. To celebrate Malabrigo March, I had a little giveaway earlier this week. Winner of a skein of yarn and pattern was AlwaysALady(ravelry). Woo Hoo! Congratulations. She chose the Kinsale pattern and a skein of Malabrigo Dos.

As promised, I am having another giveaway. Same rules, stop by my ravelry group here and join, and say hello in the Welcome thread. You will automatically be entered to win the yarn that I have for you this week. It has been SO much fun meeting all the new people stopping by. It’s so neat to meet all these new people! So, for this week’s giveaway I have either 2 skeins of orchid worsted(from last week) or 2 skeins of marron oscuro silky(Malabrigo’s picture of it below).

So stop by and say hello! You never know, you could win it.

So, what’s up. I have been keeping very busy! I thought February was going to be a quiet month for me. But, as it turns out, it was not quiet. I have several things with test knitters right now. Several pattern’s ready to…go places. I have ideas that are just pouring out and I have a lace shawl design ready for the needles. So, busy, busy, busy!  Hope to see you around!

Malabrigo March Giveaway!

Yes, it is the end of February! Last week was my birthday and I was gifted lots of cash because no one “knows what to get me”. Really, I am not that hard to shop for. The main complaint is that I only wanted “knitting” things. That’s not entirely true. I also want a Nook Color. But, no one got me one :) I also had plenty of “regular” items on my wish list. But, apparently they were hard to find. I’ve been told I like obscure things. Again, I disagree. At any rate, I did order some yarn and none of it is here yet. But, it should start arriving soon. Happy Birthday to me. Last week I did order this from a friend:

How could I NOT order it? It screamed to me. I LOVE that yellow green. It’s sooo lovely and it’s a BFL Silk blend. It is absolutely scrumptious. You have to check out her lovelies! Riverpoet (Tracey) dyes the absolute loveliest colors. I just knit my daughter a pair of socks out of some yarn that she dyed specifically to my daughter’s color choices.

So, onto Malabrigo March. I had a couple of patterns up for nomination for KALs. Unfortunately, none of them made it. I am considering doing a KAL on my brand spanking new RAVELRY GROUP! Yes folks, I started my own group. Why? Well, mostly I was growing weary posting test requests and then hunting all the different requests and then emailing and checking all my threads all over ravelry. I thought now when I post them, I can just direct them to my group and there ya go, we’ll take it from there. So, I don’t have to run all over ravelry trying to remember where I posted what and so on and so forth. Also, I like to do giveaways and stuff like that. So, I thought it would be perfect! My first giveaway will deal with just that, my ravelry group. Anyone who joins my group and posts in the Welcome thread will be entered into a drawing for a skein of yarn and a free copy of one of my patterns.  So, which skein of yarn, you ask. Well, there are three choices:

First there is a skein of rosado dos:

Then, there is a skein of  caribeno dos (the blue and purple on the far end):

and last (for now) but not least a skein of Orchid worsted:

If you are victorious, you will get to choose one of those skeins and one of my patterns. I will announce the winner in my group at the beginning of next week and then I will likely have another contest. Or, maybe I’ll post a KAL and have a prize for that thread. I don’t know yet. The possibilities are ENDLESS! Make sure you stop by and say hi!

Winners!

Sorry it took me a little longer to figure out the winners. I had to take my daughter in to have a finger x-rayed. Her friend accidentally slammed her finger in a car door. As a knitter, that injury just gives me the shivers. Anyways!

First of all, thanks so much for all the lovely comments. I really do appreciate them all. Today’s winners are Stepanie and Sally. I will be contacting you both either via email or ravelry today! Thanks for playing. Keep stopping by as I really like doing giveaways and I have some exciting projects in the works.

Baby Ruched Giveaway!

Well last week, Baby Ruched was released. It seems to be doing quite well. I am so excited about how well it is doing that I have decided to do a little giveaway! All you have to do is comment on this post and later this week, I will pick a winner! Before I tell you what you will win, I want to show some lovely shots of this little cardigan.

I LOVE this colorway! I will also give a secondary prize of a choice of one pattern from my for sale patterns on Ravelry. So, there will be two winners. Make sure when you post you give me some way of getting a hold of you either your Ravelry ID or an email. Good Luck. If you win the Baby Ruched pattern and you’ve already purchased it, I will give you the choice of another of my patterns and you will still get the yarn! So, there you have it. Just comment to win! ETA: I will keep this giveaway open until 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at which time, I will do the drawing! Thanks!

Beginning a MalTraveler and a Giveaway!

First things first, I want to talk about my Maltraveler scarf. I am in a group on Ravelry that some time ago started doing Traveling Scarves. Now, if you don’t know what a traveling scarf is, it is a scarf that is started by you and then passed on to several people, each person knitting a section and then passing it on. At the time that this group started, I brain farted and didn’t join up. Luckily, now, five rounds later, I have been given the opportunity to join up. I am excited! It sounds like a lot of fun and it will be nice to see the different patterns and colors pass through each knitter. I started my Maltraveler with Buscando Azul in the pattern for the Double Bump Dishcloth found on MyJewelThiefKnits blog. I love the stitch pattern.

Now, onto the giveaway. The readers of this blog will remember that I have been begging for people to comment. I asked for yarn suggestions or for you to tell me what your favorite yarn was. But, still nothing. So, I have decided to give you an incentive to post comments. Hopefully, some(or all) of you will stick around and keep reading and commenting. I know this is blog is an infant in terms of how long it’s been here. But, I hope to keep it going and develop it further. Now, what am I giving away?

Stone Sky Malabrigo Worsted

Stone Sky Malabrigo Worsted

I am giving away one skein of Malabrigo Worsted in the Stone Sky colorway. I got this yarn from Imagiknit. It was sold as a “mistake” colorway. Now, I do want something in return. I want you to comment! I want to know your favorite yarn or a yarn you think I should try. Pretty simple eh? I will keep this open until Saturday night at Midnight(if I can stay up that late.) At that time, I will use a random number generator to pick someone from the comments to win the skein of yarn. Fun right? Yeah, I thought so. What’s not fun about a chance to win yarn. Now please leave me some way to get a hold of you such as, a ravelry id or your email. Thanks for stopping by!
